Edinburgh Botanics 'sorry' after Christmas event cancelled ahead of gale force winds
The Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh have been forced to cancel their Christmas event due to severe weather conditions.
Due to strong gales set to hit the capital on Sunday evening, the popular 'Christmas at the Botanics' event on Sunday night, November 24, has been halted.
In a statement posted online, the attraction apologised to ticket holders who were set to attend and were told they could "reschedule their visit".

An email sent to customers via Ticketek reads: "We are sorry to announce that Christmas at the Botanics on Sunday 24 November has been cancelled due to adverse weather conditions.
"You will be contacted shortly to let you know when you will be able to reschedule your visit. We apologise for any inconvenience caused."
The Botanic Gardens made the announcement online and wrote: "Due to a forecast of severe gales in Edinburgh this evening, #ChristmasAtTheBotanics is closed today, Sunday 24 November.
"We apologise for any inconvenience caused. Today's ticket holders will be contacted shortly by Ticketek and informed of the re-booking process."
It comes as gale force winds are set to batter the city on Saturday evening. The Met Office forecast reads: "A few showers build from late evening becoming frequent and occasionally heavy in northwest towards morning.
"Gale to severe gale force southerly winds will ease somewhat and turn southwest overnight. Minimum temperature -2 °C."
