Edinburgh braces for more wintry weather with snow and ice warnings in effect
Edinburgh is not yet clear of the wintry onslaught even as Storm Eowyn's red warning expires, with yellow warnings for snow and ice in effect for the coming weekend.
The Met Office warns of icy stretches and snow showers that can make driving "hazardous" as snow accumulates in some areas. Two yellow weather warnings are in effect over the course of the weekend.
The first yellow warning for snow and ice began at 12am on Saturday, January 25 and lasts until 11am the same day.

Another warning begins at 6pm o Saturday and stays in effect until 10am on Sunday, January 26.
The first warning predicts snow accumulations confined mostly to higher ground above roughly 200 metres, where 5-10 cm could develop in places.
Ice will be a more significant hazard with icy stretches forming on untreated surfaces as temperatures fall below freezing.

The second warning forecasts mostly rain showers and sleet
Showers, mostly of rain and sleet at lower elevations, but areas above 150m are expected to see snow starting on Saturday evening and overnight.
Temporary slushy deposits are expected below 150m, with the Met Office predicting 2-5cm.
Icy patches will form on untreated surfaces and they warn drivers to stay safe while travelling.
Ensure that you check your route prior to travelling in case of road closures or delays to public transport.
