Edinburgh building evacuated as police find 'potentially hazardous materials'
An Edinburgh building was evacuated over the weekend after police discovered 'potentially hazardous substances'.
Officers were called to the scene at around 4.45pm on Sunday afternoon, after the materials were found in a building on The Pleasance. The area was cordoned off for some time, and residents were provided shelter as officers attended.
The materials were established as not hazardous.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 4.45pm on Sunday, 19 January 2025, we were called to a building on The Pleasance, Edinburgh, following the discovery of potentially hazardous materials within one of the rooms.
"An exclusion area was put around the building which was evacuated as a precaution. Residents were provided shelter.
"It was established the materials were not hazardous. Enquiries are ongoing."

In pictures shared with Edinburgh Live on Sunday, the area was taped off while investigations were carried out. Around three police vehicles were at the scene.
Road signs were put in place to alert passer-by's the area was closed.
