Edinburgh collision sees busy road closed off with police on the scene

Emergency services were on the scene of a collision in Edinburgh, which saw a busy road closed off for some time.

The incident happened at around 1am on Thursday morning, on Morningside Road. One local resident said it looked 'quite serious'.

An image from the scene shows a black Citroen, with its front smashed in at the side of the road. Multiple police vehicles can be seen attending to the collision.

Darren Farnkish, who was at the scene, told us: "It was quite serious, the Citroen had all its air bags going off.

"The police officer I spoke to said they where no real injuries. People were taken away in ambulances.

"It was a significant crash and they did close the road. The black Citroen was a total right off.

"Looking in the car you could see all the air bags that had went off."

Police Scotland and the Scottish Ambulance Service have been approached for comment.
