A unique job opportunity has come up for actors with "a convincing Scottish accent" at The Edinburgh Dungeon.

The Edinburgh Dungeon is an underground tourist attraction situated in the centre of Edinburgh. Located on the city's Market Street, it employs live actors to teach visitors about various historical events from Scotland's history.

At the moment, the attraction is looking for "theatrical talent" to join its ranks. Paying £12.32 per hour, the successful applicants will portray a variety of roles including "a bloodthirsty Judge, the dastardly Torturer, a member of Sawney Bean’s family, the ‘Foul Clenger’, or even Mary Queen of Scots herself".

According to the job listing on Indeed, each character comes with a script. However, actors are expected to "bring a bit of flair and improv to really make them your own".

Another responsibility of the role include controlling special effects. Meanwhile, actors will be expected to work evenings, weekends, and occasional late nights for the attraction's ‘Dungeon Lates’ events.

Benefits of the job include a monthly bonus based on customer satisfaction, a 25 per cent discount in select shops and restaurants, and 40 per cent off LEGO online. The successful applicants will also enjoy free tickets to attractions worldwide and up to 55 per cent off cinema tickets.

Other required attributes include the ability to learn a script quickly and to take direction well. The successful applicants will also need to possess a high level of stamina, as they will be performing every eight-to-10 minutes during peak times.

The job listing states: "Fancy a job that’ll send shivers down your spine? The Edinburgh Dungeon is on the hunt for theatrical talent to join our twisted cast and help bring Edinburgh’s gruesome past back to life.

"This is not your average gig - this is a 75-minute interactive tour through some of the city’s most delightfully disturbing history!"
