Edinburgh emergency services rush to incident on quiet street as area sealed off

Emergency services descended on a quiet residential street in Edinburgh after a flat burst into flames.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and paramedics are in attendance at a blaze on Stenhouse Gardens North after the alarm was raised at around 1.30pm on Friday, September 27.

Four fire appliances, one height vehicle and several ambulances have been dispatched to the scene as locals reported seeing "smoke belching from the stair" of a flat.

Images from the scene show the street cordoned off with multiple fire engines in attendance as well as a police van and car parked nearby. Officers can be seen speaking with fire service personnel.

A spokesperson for the SFRS said: "We received a call at 1.31pm to reports of a fire in a dwelling on Stenhouse Gardens North. The incident remains ongoing and four appliances and a height vehicle have been mobilised to the scene."

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 13:48 to attend an incident on Stenhouse Gardens North, Edinburgh. An ambulance, two paramedic response units and a special operations response team (SORT) were dispatched to the scene and no patients required hospital treatment.”
