Edinburgh family dog 'loses leg' after horror park collision with council tractor

A family dog has been seriously injured after a collision with an Edinburgh City Council tractor at a city park.

The incident took place at around 11.20am on Tuesday November 19 at the Gyle Park close to the David Lloyd centre.

It is understood the dog has had to have a leg amputated due to injuries they sustained.

Police have since launched an investigation into the incident.

The council said they were 'sorry' to hear about the serious injuries the dog suffered and added they would assist Police Scotland with their enquiries.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Around 11.20am on Tuesday November 19 2024, we received a report of a dog being seriously injured while in Gyle Park, Edinburgh.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances."

The council's culture and communities convener, councillor Val Walker said: "We're very sorry to hear about this incident and injuries to the family's pet. We're supporting the police with their enquiries.
