Edinburgh fire crews race to blaze at city centre square after reports of 'bin fire'

Firefighters in Edinburgh raced to the city centre on Friday evening after reports of a 'bin fire'.

Scottish Fire and Rescue were pictured at Hunter Square on November 15 around 8.45pm. One appliance was dispatched to the scene after the blaze.

In images shared with Edinburgh Live, one fire engine was parked up outside The Tron with its blue lights on.

It's not known if there have been any injuries. Two firefighters can be seen at the steps chatting to punters after arriving at the scene.

One local previously said: "So I was walking up to the Royal Mile and saw the fire engine. It was really weird though, firefighters looked furious."

A SFRS spokesperson said: "On Friday, November 15, we were made aware of a bin fire at Tron Square. One appliance was sent to the scene."

Fire crews left the scene once the area was safe.
