Edinburgh hotels have tripled their prices for Taylor Swift's three-night residency in the city, according to a new study.

With just a week to go until the pop singer takes centre stage at Murrayfield Stadium, 'Swifties' far and wide will be flocking to the Scottish capital to witness her in person. With hundreds of thousands of fans set to attend the concerts between June 7 and June 9, many of Edinburgh's hotels have been booked out.

New research carried out by Buzz Bingo has revealed that hotels in the city are three times more expensive on the nights of Swift's concerts than normal. According to the experts, a single-night stay in Edinburgh across the weekend costs on average £597.

The research found that the most expensive place to stay while Swift is in town costs a staggering £923 per night. On the other hand, the cheapest hotel in Edinburgh during the weekend is listed at £110 per night.

The hotel prices were taken from Booking.com from the top ten hotels that showed up as available for a one night stay on the date that Taylor Swift is performing in Edinburgh. For the average price of the hotels when Swift isn’t performing, Buzz Bingo analysed hotels available a month before and a month after the Eras Tour visits the city.

Taylor Swift fan Dana Vortkamp-Tong, who lives in the UK but is travelling to Europe to see the singer perform, said: "We are lucky enough to have friends and family we could stay with in Germany.

"Therefore, when the tour dates were announced, I made the tactical decision to sign up for European shows too, knowing it was a viable option and definitely cheaper without needing accommodation, along with the costs of travelling within the UK.

"I am so excited for the shows we're able to attend, but the price does really add up, between travel, accommodation and the cost of tickets, I can see why UK-based Swifties have made the decision to travel across Europe rather than attend UK shows."

The Daily Record reported earlier this week that homeless Edinburgh families are being 'moved from hotels' as a result of Swift fans flocking to the capital for the shows.
