Edinburgh hotter than Munich as capital welcomes toasty start to summer

Edinburgh residents can rejoice as the sunny weather has returned after a brief period of heavy rainfall that battered the city and led to flooding in several locations.

With both the Meadows and Corstorphine Fairs on this weekend, it could be worth dusting off the sun cream and grabbing the shades, as residents will look to take advantage of the rides and stalls at both locations.

The capital will see highs of 18C on Saturday June 1, making it hotter than Munich, Germany, which is struggling to climb above 13C on the same day.

Blazing sunshine will remain in place for most of the afternoon across Edinburgh with clear skies forecast from 1pm until 9pm at night.

This means that it may be a good idea to locate a pub with a beer garden to enjoy a soft drink or summery cider while taking in the Champions League Final between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund this evening.
