One Edinburgh local Dylan Falconer said: “As a trans person, Janey Godley stood up for my community at a time when it was really hard, she fought against transphobia and she really kept me going.

“These hundreds of people that have come out today to say goodbye are a testament to how wonderful she was, she meant so much to so many people.”

“During Covid she was one of the only things that kept us sane, at the last show of hers we went to before she passed away, we got to thank her for helping us through Covid-19.”

Another fan of Janey said: “She brought us humour at a really dark time during Covid, she had such a breezy and bright attitude to life that so many people fell in love with.”

During the pandemic, Janey entertained the nation with her parody videos of former First Minister Nicola Sturgeon’s Covid briefings.
