Edinburgh M8: Heavy snow triggers major delays as skidding cars 'block road'
Motorists have been warned of lengthy delays on major motorways as heavy snow triggers major disruption.
Wintry conditions on the M8 and M80 have seen cars losing traction and blocking the road.
At around 11.25am on Saturday, drivers were warned the M8 was still heavily congested at junction three after several cars lost control.

Drivers have been warned to expect delays with the M8 eastbound expected to take 30 minutes longer and an hour's wait for those heading westbound.
Meanwhile, on the M80 Northbound at J7 is also blocked after to two HGV's lost traction. Traffic is currently being held while gritters and ploughs treat the area. (Appx) Westbound: 60 mins (Appx)
Drivers have been warned to expect an hour's delay westbound.
Police Scotland have warned motorists to only travel if it's essential.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "After the recent weather warning and continued cold weather into the weekend, please be careful when driving through Edinburgh. This mornings snow and ice has resulted in several minor traffic accidents across the City which our officers are currently dealing with.
"As a result there is considerable traffic disruption to Drum Brae/Clermiston area and at the Straiton juntion on Edinburgh City Bypass. As the snow continues, please consider whether travelling is necessary and if driving, please be careful."
