Edinburgh man collapses in street as police perform lifesaving CPR

An Edinburgh man collapsed in the street on Saturday, with emergency services racing to the scene.

The incident happened in Leith, with police performing lifesaving CPR. They also used a defibrillator until paramedics arrived on the scene.

The individual is understood to be recovering in hospital. His current condition is not known.

Police Scotland North East Edinburgh said on X: "On Saturday Team 5 response officers responded to a man collapsed in Leith.

"The officers quickly administered lifesaving CPR along with a St John Scotland defibrillator until the Scottish Ambulance Service arrived.

"The man was conveyed to hospital where he continues to receive treatment."

The Scottish Ambulance Service has been approached for comment.
