Edinburgh memorial for Liam Payne urges fans to gather with 'bright colours and candles'
Edinburgh fans of Liam Payne have organised a memorial for the former singer.
The former One Direction singer died at the age of 31 from "internal and external bleeding". His family have since said that he will "forever live in our hearts".
Edinburgh fan Kaitlyn Ellen Smith said the event hopes to "give fans a little bit of closure". Attendees are urged to wear bright colours and bring candles.

Kaitlyn, who organised the event, told us: "I think it’s important to hold an event like this.
"For the fans to have a chance to say goodbye. Even though we may not have known him personally a lot of us grew up with One Direction, listening to their music, and then Liam's solo stuff.
"The boys helped so many of us through with our own demons and struggles, and, although we couldn’t help with his, it’s important we all come together as we all understand collectively how much of a shock it is.
"We want to be able to pay our respects together. It also gives a little bit of closure as it doesn’t feel real to be losing a member already."
Fans are encouraged to bring flowers, posters, notes & candles as well as anything else they’d like to take to remember him. The remembrance will take place at the Edinburgh meadows in the middle section (where the sausage roll & drinks vans are) at 3pm on Sunday (October 20).

Abby Briggs told Edinburgh Live: "I am honestly quite lost for words. It’s a very heartbreaking and confusing time for me and so many others who are affected by such tragic news."
The event page on Facebook reads: "A memorial to remember Liam Payne. Please bring merch, bright colours, candles, posters and notes."
Shortly after Liam's tragic death his family released an emotional statement about their loss. It said: "We are heartbroken. Liam will forever live in our hearts and we'll remember him for his kind, funny and brave soul. We are supporting each other the best we can as a family and ask for privacy and space at this awful time."

Former X Factor contestant Katie Waissel, who appeared on the show along with Liam in 2010 also paid tribute to the star. In a statement released to X, she said: "Liam was kind, with a pure heart, a sharp mind, and the wisdom of an old soul.
"His warmth and compassion left a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His tragic passing not only leaves an irreplaceable void in the hearts of those who loved him but also serves as a painful reminder of the systemic neglect that persists in the industry."
The event is being held at 3pm on Sunday in the Meadows. You can find out more here.
