Edinburgh pedestrian raced to hospital after rush hour collision with vehicle

A person has been rushed to hospital following a collision on Friday late afternoon.

At around 4pm on Friday, police received a report involving a pedestrian being struck by a car.

Emergency services raced to Calder Road and the person was taken to hospital by ambulance.

The condition of those involved is currently unknown.

Police closed the westbound Calder Road after the Sighthill roundabout by 4.20pm. There were reports of congestion in the surrounding roads as rush hour hit.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 4pm on Friday, May 24, 2024, police received a report of a crash involving a pedestrian and car on Calder Road, Edinburgh. Emergency services attended and the pedestrian was taken to hospital."
