Edinburgh Polar Ice Bar and Coorie Inn opening delayed due to weather 'safety' fears

The grand opening of the Polar Ice Bar and Coorie Inn winter attractions have been delayed after weather warnings were issued by the MET Office.

The MET has put out a yellow warning for rain and snow in the capital from 4am on Saturday November 23 until 9am on Sunday November 24.

Those behind the winter themed George Street bars cited concerns over safety but committed to opening both spaces in the city centre on Tuesday November 26.

They apologised for the 'inconvenience' and 'disappointment' Monday 25 ticket holders may be experiencing however they have offered to reschedule a visit.

In a social media post, Edinburgh's Christmas said: "Due to weather warnings in place for adverse conditions forecast in Edinburgh this weekend, as a precaution against any delays due to potential issues caused by weather, we have made the decision to delay the opening of our new Polar Ice Bar and Coorie Inn attractions on George Street until the afternoon of Tuesday 26 November.

"This will allow Edinburgh’s Christmas time to ensure all areas are ready and safe for opening.

"We apologise for any inconvenience or disappointment caused to Monday night ticket holders to the Polar Ice Bar, but look forward to welcoming you to a rescheduled visit. Customers with bookings for affected sessions have been contacted to reschedule their visit. All other sessions can be booked as normal.

"We look forward to welcoming you all to Edinburgh’s Christmas very soon!"

It is understood the ice rink will still open on November 22 while St Andrew Square will open at midday at November 23.
