Edinburgh police lock down road near Taylor Swift gig in 'ongoing' incident

Traffic has been diverted away from Westfield Road as Police Scotland respond to an ongoing incident on Friday June 7.

Travel update page, Edinburgh Travel News, posted on social media to warn those travelling to or along Westfield Road to find an alternative route.

It is understood that the emergency services incident has led to Westfield Road being closed off between Gorgie Road and Stevenson Road.

Westfield Road is often a popular route for those travelling to and from Murrayfield Stadium where Taylor Swift is set to kick off her UK tour tonight.

The residential street is less than a 10-minute walk from the stadium with thousands of fans making their way to Murrayfield on Friday afternoon for the megastar's gig.

Edinburgh Travel News shared on X: "Due to a Police incident, Westfield Road is currently closed between Gorgie Road and Stevenson Road."

Lothian Buses took to X to warn customers that they would have to divert the number one and two services.

The statement on their website read: "Due to a road closure buses are unable to serve Westfield Road and Stevenson Road and are instead diverted via Gorgie Road and Balgreen Road in both directions until further notice."
