Edinburgh police race to city centre after incident near busy shopping centre

Police swooped near St James Quarter after an incident on Monday afternoon.

Around 2.30pm on November 11, several police vehicles were spotted outside the busy shopping centre.

Officers were made aware of a shoplifting incident and were carrying out investigations throughout the afternoon.

The location of the shoplifting is not known at this time, however police were seen on Leith Street with a van and car parked opposite the Omni centre.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 2.35pm on Monday, 11 November, 2024, we were made aware of a shoplifting incident in the Leith Street area of Edinburgh.

“Officers are in attendance and enquiries are ongoing.”
