Edinburgh police tape off Water of Leith footpath as forensics spotted at scene

A busy footpath in Edinburgh has been cordoned off as police deal with an ongoing incident.

Around 2.45pm, forensic officers were seen scouring the scene near St Bernard's Well on the footpath along the Water of Leith near Stockbridge.

In pictures shared with Edinburgh Live, the area is blocked off with around two forensic officers spotted carrying out investigations. A tent has also been erected.

A police officer was spotted by one local guarding the area near Miller Row.

One passer-by said: "People are trying to walk under the bridge but are being turned away. It's cordoned off and a police tend forensics are there. Tourists are still taking photos."

The exact nature of the incident is unknown at this time.
