Edinburgh Ryanair passengers horrified as police appear and search them 'one by one'

Police boarded a Ryanair flight as it landed in Edinburgh, with reports of a 'disruptive passenger'.

The plane, which had come in from Marrakesh, landed at around 11.25pm. A 41-year-old male has since been charged in connection with the alleged disturbance.

While onboard, officers were informed of another separate incident involving stolen cigarettes. According to passengers 'everyone was searched due to £100 worth of goods being stolen'.

A further two men, aged 31 and 34, were charged in connection. Police Scotland said they had both been issued a recorded police warning.

Sharing a clip from onboard the plane, @simonwaterpolo said: "Ryanair flight to Edinburgh, every passenger was searched due to £100 worth of cigarettes being stolen from the cart."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 11.25pm on Saturday, 1 February, police received a report of a disruptive passenger on board an incoming flight to Edinburgh Airport.

"Officers attended and a 41-year-old man was charged in connection with the disturbance. He is expected to appear at court at a later date.

"Whilst dealing with the incident, officers were made aware of the theft of cigarettes from the plane. Enquiries were carried out and two men, aged 31 and 34, were charged and issued with Recorded Police Warnings."

Ryanair and Edinburgh Airport have been approached for comment.
