A toy shop at a busy Edinburgh shopping centre is set to close permanently, with a sign in the window informing customers.

The Entertainer, at Cameron Toll, is set to close for good having provided customers with a wide range of branded indoor and outdoor toys, craft products, electronic games and costumes for years.

However, a sign recently appeared in the window informing visitors to the centre the branch is closing and where alternative stores can be found nearby including Livingston and Dunfermline.

The reason behind the sudden closure is currently unknown but the centre has been hit with constant issues regarding nearby roadworks in 2024, with the current roundabout closure being the third of the year.

A damaged culvert was discovered during a bridge inspection in February which resulted in a three-month closure of the roundabout before Scottish Gas Network carried out essential repairs at the start of August, with the route fully reopening nearly three months later.

Shoppers were once again caught up in huge queues earlier this week while attempting to exit the car park due to another partial closure while Scottish Water investigate a sewage issue.

The firm has said the latest work should be complete within a matter of days, but shoppers have since spoke of their frustration at being 'trapped' in the car park for up to an hour during peak times.

The Entertainer was approached for comment regarding the closure.
