Edinburgh theatre show cancelled after allegations made against author Neil Gaiman
A major theatre show set to take place in Edinburgh has been cancelled due to allegations against its author.
The musical adaptation of Coraline, due to visit Edinburgh's Royal Lyceum Theatre this summer, has been cancelled due to sexual misconduct allegations against Neil Gaiman.
Coraline was to be showcased at Leeds Playhouse, Royal Lyceum Theatre, Birmingham Rep and HOME, Manchester, as a statement issued online by the co-production partners confirmed it would be "impossible to continue" with the show.

The statement read: "From the co-production partners: Leeds Playhouse, Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh, Birmingham Rep, and HOME, Manchester. We have decided our production of Coraline - A Musical will not proceed.
"After careful consideration, we feel it would be impossible to continue in the context of the allegations against its original author. Ticket holders have been contacted directly via email."

A webpage on the Royal Lyceum Theatre's site with more information about the show has also been taken down. Coraline was set to be shown from June 26-19 July in Edinburgh.
A message apologising 'for any inconvenience' has also been sent directly to ticketholders. The decision comes after allegations against author Neil Gaiman, reports Leeds Live.
Last week, Neil Gaiman's graphic novels and comic books publisher Dark Horse Comics cancelled his upcoming work after allegations of sexual misconduct were made against him.
Neil Gaiman has denied allegations of sexual misconduct made by eight women, posting a statement on his website. Earlier this month, he posted that he: "Never engaged in non-consensual sexual activity with anyone. Ever".
