Edinburgh tourist slams upmarket hotel after 'upsetting discovery in room'

An Edinburgh hotel has apologised after a disgruntled tourist claimed they spotted a mouse running across their room.

The creeped out female guest says she spotted the mouse in the "corner of her eye".

She described the moment as "horror" within a scathing one star review on TripAdvisor and said it was an "extremely disappointing" experience.

The review reads: "That weekend I ran off to Edinburgh, only to encounter an unprecedented heart-thumping night.

"Due to jet lag, I couldn't fall asleep. In my daze, I caught something flashing by the door out of the corner of my eye. I thought I was just dizzy, but two minutes later I was scared awake by a tail-carrying creature merrily running across the carpet.

"In horror, I called the front desk, but they were very calm and said someone would come to help me. I thought someone would come with a trap but five minutes later, a man with a pole came in.

"The man began his strategic battle under the tables and beds. After several rounds, he finally drove the mouse away! Yes, he didn't catch it, he drove it away. I called the front desk to complain, and they said they had never encountered this before.

"I was not offered a room change, but was provided with a complimentary glass of brandy to calm my nerves Considering it was already 1.30am in the morning and I was about to return to London, I ended up spending the night in the room, with worries in my sleep.

"I have stayed in Hilton worldwide and I'm a diamond member. This is an extremely disappointing experience. Here I record this, to remind everyone to avoid this four-star hotel when going to Edinburgh".
