Edinburgh train passengers issued warning as blaze breaks out near tracks
Edinburgh train passengers have been issued a warning after a blaze broke out near rail tracks.
Major delays are expected on the East Coast main line as fire crews are tackling a blaze. Signal cables near Stevenage have been damaged, leading to knock-on disruption across the country.
Edinburgh Waverley staff have urged customers to check their train operator's latest advice before leaving the house as disruption is expected to last throughout the day.

Posting on X they said: "Major delays are expected on the East Coast Main Line for the rest of today, due to a fire damaging signalling cables near Stevenage. Check your train operator's latest travel advice before you leave the house."
Network Rail posted: "DO NOT TRAVEL. The fire service are tackling flames in our signal cables near Stevenage. Our teams are on standby to start repairs as soon as it is safe. We regret that major delays to trains are expected for the rest of today."
LNER have warned customers 'do not travel' to or from London Kings Cross.

"Train services running through this station may be cancelled or delayed. Disruption is expected until the end of the day."
