Edinburgh Trams blocked off from airport amid 'medical emergency' at Haymarket

A 'medical emergency' blocked trams from reaching Edinburgh Airport on Tuesday evening.

The incident is understood to have happened at around 6.15pm. The condition of those involved, or the nature of the incident, is not currently known.

Edinburgh Trams confirmed trams that were airport bound were being blocked, following a medical emergency at Haymarket. The line reopened at around 6.30pm.

Posting to X, Edinburgh Trams said: "Medical emergency at Haymarket blocking trams airport bound."

They later added: "Update: 18:30 Emergency services have cleared the area. There are some extended wait times for trams in both directions."

Edinburgh Trams and the Scottish Ambulance Service have been approached for comment.
