The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for parts of Scotland, including Edinburgh.

BBC Weather forecast snow to hit the capital from 5pm on Monday, November 18 with heavy wintry showers expected to fall through the night and into the small hours of Tuesday.

While the yellow weather warning is in place from 10am on Monday until Tuesday 10pm, according to the Met Office, temperatures will plummet to 0C on Monday morning at 3am.

Edinburgh locals will wake up to a freezing start, and temperatures won't rise above 0C until 12pm and will struggle to go above 2C. With that, the morning will feel colder with the Met Office warning it will 'feel like -2C.'

The Arctic blast will bring wintry showers with BBC Weather forecasting snow for 5pm on Monday.

Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist Rebekah Hicks explains: “A notable early winter cold spell will arrive across the north from Sunday and will likely reach all parts of the UK by midweek.

“Temperatures will drop as a northerly airflow develops, bringing in colder Arctic air. This introduces the possibility of snow, initially over high ground in the north from Sunday, with gusty winds also a potential hazard. As the cold air spreads south, wintry weather is possible more widely, and a snow and ice warning has already been issued for parts of Scotland and Northern England for early next week.

“Updates to the warnings for wintry hazards are likely, so it’s important to stay up to date with the latest forecast.”
