Edinburgh Weather: Heavy rain and thunderstorms to hit as second weather warning issued

With Edinburgh just getting over a yellow weather warning and flood alert, the capital could be set for more thunderstorms and heavy downpours.

A new Met Office weather warning comes into place on Sunday, May 26, at 1pm and will last until 10pm on Monday, May, 27. It's set to cover Edinburgh and the Lothians with 'flooding of homes and businesses' possible.

It'll see the capital drenched as heavy downpours and some thunderstorms start on Sunday and continue until Monday with some public transport impacted.

A Met Office forecaster said: "Heavy showers and possible thunderstorms on Sunday afternoon and evening may lead to some flooding and transport disruption.

"Flooding of a few homes and businesses is possible. Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer. Bus and train services probably affected with journey times taking longer."

The Edinburgh forecast for Sunday reads: "A cloudy day with scattered showers, more in the way of persistent rain across Edinburgh, Borders and Lothian at first this morning. Showers will turn heavy this afternoon. East coast mist. Maximum temperature 15 °C"
