Edinburgh woman rushed to hospital after cars crash at busy junction

A woman was rushed to hospital after two cars collided at a busy Edinburgh junction on Friday morning.

A silver convertible and Ford Fiesta crashed into each other on Queensferry Road at the junction with Corbiehill Road at around 11am on July 5 as footage from the scene shows both cars smashed up.

The sporty convertible can be seen at the entrance to Corbiehill Road with considerable damage dealt to the front and side of the vehicle. Opposite it, the Ford also appears to have suffered damage to the passenger side with one of the wheels bent inwards.

Traffic can also be seen funnelling into a single lane on the busy road on the outskirts of the city. Police say a woman was transported to hospital for treatment, although her condition is unknown.

Several people can be seen standing at the side of the road with the driver of a white van having stopped to help. Other road users were spotted swerving around debris in the middle of the road.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police were called around 10.20am on Friday, 5 July 2024, to a report of a two-car collision on Queensferry Road, Edinburgh. Emergency services attended and one woman was taken to hospital."
