Edinburgh's Christmas Market can be an overwhelming experience - with one YouTuber now giving advice on how to navigate the festive favourite.

Kat, who runs Kakibot's Guidebook page on YouTube, was at the market over opening weekend. She filmed her trip and had some helpful hints - including the best time to head along, which stalls were her favourites, and how to handle the 'sensory overload'.

She also highlighted the surprising prices - and where to find a seat out of the bustle. Kat, who has 36,0000 subscribers on YouTube, finished off by advising anyone who finds themselves overwhelmed to bring earplugs.

Speaking to her followers, Kat said: "We entered through the spot right next to the National Gallery, and I immediately noticed that the set up is super similar to last year.

"At around 1pm on a Saturday, it definitely wasn't empty - but it was manageable. In the next area you'll find the big wheel, as usual you can claim a discount if you have an EH postcode.

"One stall I will always stop by is the East End Press one, they make the loveliest garlands. This time I got one with Christmas jumpers."

Kat then stopped off for some food, though wasn't too impressed at some of the prices. She continued: "I had a crepe craving.

"I really like the texture. It's nice and chewy, I'm satisfied. Although, £9?!"

She then goes on to another food stall, to sample some festive pies. Kat continues: "Our main meal of the day is this beef shin and ox tail pie.

"I have never tried this stall before but I've heard only good things. It's so good - it's comforting!

"When you're at the market, it can be hard to find a space to enjoy your meal. It's very limited space, I feel like this year there is even less space than last year."

Kat then returns in the evening, and tells her followers that the market has now changed to a one way system. She said: "At night the market does become more photogenic, for sure.

"The crowds can make it a bit harder to get a good shot. This year there are designated photo spots."

She then heads over to the west end of Princes Street, to check out the 'fun-fair' side. Kat recommends grabbing food at the east end, with 'better' choices.

She concludes: "I was genuinely worried, this is a lot.

"If you're a sensory avoidance person, bring some ear plugs."
