A woman has paid tribute to her "amazing" sister who was killed in an alleged hit-and-run while walking her dogs in Edmonton, north London.

Laura Sone-Demetrious died, aged 28, as did her two dogs, when they were involved in the collision on Tuesday around 7.20pm on the A10 Cambridge Road.

Her family was informed of her death at 2.30am on Wednesday when the Metropolitan Police used the dog's tag to identify the victim and came to the family home in Enfield.

"My sister was an angel in disguise," Laura’s 24-year-old sister Gina Sone-Demetrious told the Standard.

"She was super protective of those close to her, she wouldn't allow anything to happen to anyone.

"She loved all. She was one of those people who would dance to anything, she loved her dogs dearly.

"She would even talk to them about anything and everything, she would dance with them."

Laura leaves behind her parents, a brother and another sister. The family are now looking to raise £10,000 through a Gofundme campaign to cover costs for the funeral.

Her sister Ms Sone-Demetrious added: "She would sing. She was just a god sent from heaven… an amazing person.

"There are so many words to describe my sister but angel in disguise is the main description of what I can think about when I think about Laura. It is just truly devastating."

She told My London that the trauma has left her "unable to sleep or eat" and could not believe what she was hearing when the police came to the door.

"I went down to the living room and my mum was crying so much she couldn't speak,” she said.

"I then turned to the police and asked if there was some wind up. I was crying my eyes out. I can barely eat or sleep.

"You could never expect this to happen to your family, especially my older sister who I looked up to and who protected me. It's so traumatic."

A 17-year-old boy was arrested in connection to an incident and has been charged with failing to stop in relation to a road traffic collision.

He has been bailed and will enter a plea at a yet to be determined court date in mid February.
