Yahoo News Motorist admits causing death by dangerous driving after being distracted by dangling spider
A driver “distracted” by a spider dangling from the roof of his car has admitted killing a pedestrian when he crashed into a traffic light.
Edvinas Gilius, 31, killed Janet Cawood, 58, in the accident in Bradford city centre on August 3 last year. He pleaded guilty to causing the death by driving without due care and attention.
His car mounted the pavement and hit a traffic light that fell on Ms Cawood, Bradford Crown Court was told.
Ms Cawood was taken to hospital but died from her injuries later that month.
Gilius, of Tong, Bradford was due to be sentenced at Bradford Crown Court this week but Judge Jonathan Gibson adjourned the case for a probation report.

Philip Morris, for Gilius, conceded it was a serious allegation, but said his client had pleaded guilty at the first opportunity.
Police had previously investigated the possibility Gilius was on his phone when he crashed but this had been discounted.
Mr Morris said: “There is no evidence that the defendant was using a mobile phone at the time."
Gilius told the police that he was distracted by a spider descending from the roof of his car.
Bradford Crown Court heard it was a case around “avoidable distraction.”
Sentencing has been postponed until September 6 and Gilius has been bailed until then.
