EE wants you to become a pro esports player with new Mobile Series competition

Always loved playing games and wish you could make serious cash from it? EE is giving you a chance to realise that dream.

The mobile network is launching its own esports competition, the EE Mobile Series, which will see gamers complete in a series of rounds for the ultimate prize: a place on the professional esports team, Fnatic, one of the biggest esports organisations in the world.

Fnatic has players across the world, competing in tournaments for games such as Fortnite, League of Legends, and Heroes of the Storm. Speaking about the competition, Wouter Sleijffers, CEO of Fnatic: “Fnatic are more than just a team: our mission is to bring esports into every household and our exclusive partnership with EE for The EE Mobile Series is a big step towards this ambition.

“We look forward to welcoming the winner of Series into our family and helping them to live their dream of becoming a professional esports player.”

Gamers will have the chance to compete in two qualifying rounds, playing SuperCell’s Clash Royale mobile game, on the November 27 and 29.

The top 16 players from each qualifying round will advance to the group stages in December, before the final eight will go head to head in the EE Mobile Series final on January 20, next year, at the BT Sport studio in London.

The finalists will also receive the new OnePlus 6T in order to compete in the final. The device, released earlier this month, has a bespoke Gaming Mode which prioritises battery and power in gaming, making it the perfect device for any aspiring esports player.

Don’t fret if you don’t make it into the qualifying rounds. You can still join in on all the esports action as it will be streamed live on Twitch and other major streaming platforms.

Esports is big business. Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins, who was recently crowned personality of the year and streamer of the year at the Esports Awards, is the aforementioned gamer who makes $500,000 a month playing Fornite Battle Royale.

Even FIFA has a FIFA eWorld Cup, which took place earlier this year at the O2 Arena, after the end of the football world cup.

It’s only expected to get bigger too: the market tracking company Newzoo predicts 427 million people will be watching video gaming next year.
