Efforts to Contain Mosquito Fire Continue as Destructive Blaze Grows to Almost 70,000 Acres

At least 73 structures were destroyed in Northern California as efforts to contain the Mosquito fire continued on Friday, September 16, according to local officials.

The Placer County Sheriff’s Office reported that approximately 9,236 homes were threatened by the fire in parts of Placer County and El Dorado County.

This footage, captured by fire chief Robert Russell, shows a tanker dropping flame retardant over an area of Foresthill in Placer County on September 13.
