Egyptian Jets Strike Retaliate for Bus Bombing

Egyptian Air Force jets struck a militant camp in eastern Libya on Friday evening, May 26, in response to a deadly attack by gunmen on a bus carrying Coptic Christians en route to a monastery in Egypt’s Minya province earlier in the day.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi announced the attacks in a televised address, saying the strikes were targeting bases where Friday’s attackers were trained. The camp is reportedly near the port town of Derna and belongs to the Shura Council of the Mujahideen, an Al Qaeda-linked group.

The Egyptian Ministry of Defence released this footage early Saturday. The video includes some of the same footage of jets taking off seen in an earlier video posted by the ministry, along with cockpit footage of the strikes. Credit: Egyptian Ministry of Defense via Storyful
