Eight-year-old airlifted to hospital following 'pocket bully' attack on East Marsh

An eight-year-old boy has been injured in a dog attack in Grimsby.

Humberside Police were called to a property on Rutland Street on Wednesday afternoon. Following the incident, the boy was taken to the Sheffield Children's Hospital by Air Ambulance with injuries to his leg. The boy's injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

As part of inquiries, a pocket bully has been seized by Police.

Humberside Police said: "Enquiries are ongoing after we received reports that an eight-year-old boy had been bitten by a dog inside a property on Rutland Street in Grimsby at around 4.45 pm yesterday (Wednesday 15 May).

"The boy was taken to hospital to receive medical treatment after suffering injuries to his leg, which are not thought to be life threatening at this time."

Detective Inspector Scott Miller said: “We are working closely with the boy’s family to understand the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“At this stage, the breed of dog is believed to be a pocket bully and it has been seized as part of our enquiries.”
