Glastonbury and Elbow go together like Glastonbury and mud, so it comes as no surprise that the Manchester band were the top-secret TBA act this evening (June 23).

After keeping it under wraps until the last minute – and plenty of rumours circulating around the likes of Harry Styles and Arcade Fire – Elbow took to the Park Stage.

"Have you got your Glastonbury on?" frontman Guy Garvey asked the large crowd after opener 'The Birds'. "Is this the best stage at the festival? Is this the best festival in the world?"

He also led the audience with declarations of "peace and love", and even conducted a singalong 'Happy Birthday' for one lucky punter.

At one point, Garvey improvised a song about Glastonbury with the assembled fans, later ending the set with traditional closer 'One Day Like This'.

Today's first day of music got off to a poignant start with a minute's silence for the victims of the recent Grenfell Tower fire, as well as the terror attacks in Manchester and London.

Making appearances today were Johnny Depp and Bradley Cooper, who both surprised crowds on the Pyramid Stage.

Tonight's music is topped off by a Pyramid headline set from Radiohead, which begins at 9.30pm on the live stream, and airs on BBC Two at 10pm.
