Elderly man dies after car and lorry crash on busy Writtle road

A man has tragically died after a collision involving a car and a lorry on the outskirts of Chelmsford. Emergency services rushed to Vicarage Road in Roxwell on Friday afternoon (September 20).

The collision occurred shortly before 1.30pm and police and ambulance service colleagues attended the scene. The road was closed for five hours whilst emergency services attended the incident.

Vicarage Road was closed between Boyton Cross and Lordship Road after a car and a flatback lorry collided. The driver of the car, in their 70s, sadly died at the scene.

No arrests have been made in connection with the collision. Essex Police said a file is to be prepared for the coroner.
