Elderly woman arrested over 'aiding' suicide after 74-year-old's body discovered at bottom of cliffs

An elderly woman has been questioned by police on suspicion of “aiding or abetting suicide” after a woman’s body was found at the bottom of cliffs.

Police were called to Hell’s Mouth in Gwithian, Cornwall, at about 4.25pm on Friday after a member of the public spotted a body.

The body of a 74-year-old woman from Wiltshire was found after emergency services attended.

Devon and Cornwall Police said her next of kin had been informed of her death, which is not being treated as suspicious.

A file will be prepared for the coroner.

Police said a 73-year-old woman from Westbury, Wiltshire, was questioned on suspicion of aiding or abetting suicide under The Suicide Act 1961.

She has since been released under investigation pending further inquiries.
