Elderly woman has hundreds of pounds stolen in cashpoint robbery

An elderly woman has had hundreds of pounds stolen for her from a cashpoint in the centre of Leeds.

The victim, a woman aged in her 80s, was withdrawing cash from an ATM in Briggate at 10.45am on Tuesday, November 5. After withdrawing the cash, a man, who had been waiting in line, pushed her and stole the cash before running off.

Now, West Yorkshire Police have released a CCTV image of a suspect as they investigate.

The victim described the suspect as a white male who was not British. He was of a slim build, five feet two inches to five feet four inches tall, with long hair and wearing a blue jacket.

West Yorkshire Police said: "Detectives investigating an incident in Leeds where an elderly woman had hundreds of pounds stolen from her after visiting a cashpoint have released an image of the suspect.

"The victim, aged in her eighties, had been making a withdrawal at a bank ATM in Briggate at about 10.45am on Tuesday, November 5.

"The suspect, who had been waiting in line, pushed her and snatched the cash before running off. The victim described him as a white male but not British, slim build, 5ft 2ins to 5ft 4ins tall, with long hair. He was wearing a blue jacket."
