A mass street brawl on New Year’s Eve left an elderly woman injured after a car smashed into her house.

Rescue teams, including police, firefighters and paramedics, dashed to Kesteral Road in Russels Hall, Dudley, after thugs went berserk just before midnight.

An elderly resident who was sitting in her living room at the time was injured by debris as the car smashed into her property.

A 20-year-old man from Telford, Shrops., was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drink or drugs.

Another woman was also hurt when she was attacked and dragged along the ground.

Meanwhile a Ford Fiesta was set on fire and a 16-year-old passenger arrested on suspicion of punching two people and a police officer.

One police officer was assaulted during the disorder which unfolded shortly after 11pm.

A West Midlands Fire Service spokesperson said: ‘One car had impacted into the front ground floor living room of a semi-detached property in the street.

‘One man and one woman sustained injuries from masonry and glass – and were taken to Russells Hall Hospital.

‘The woman had been in the house, while the man was in the vehicle.

‘Our technical rescue unit removed the car from the building.’
