Elderly woman knocked over wall and into river after van crash in Tavistock

An elderly woman was knocked over a wall and into a river after a van crash in Tavistock yesterday (Monday, November 11). Devon and Cornwall Police was called to the collision on Market Road at about 2.45pm.

The crash involved a pedestrian, a woman aged in her 70s and a van. Emergency services rushed to the scene and the woman was rescued from the water.

She was checked over by paramedics and is not believed to be seriously injured. Police are investigating the circumstances around the crash.

Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police were notified at around 2.45pm yesterday to reports of a collision involving a van and a pedestrian on Market Road in Tavistock. The pedestrian, a woman in her 70s, was knocked into a wall and then fell into the water as a result.

"Emergency services were in attendance. The woman was assisted out of the water and checked over by paramedics. She is not believed to be seriously injured."
