Elderly woman suffers major injuries after car crashes into mobility scooter
An elderly woman has suffered potentially life-changing injuries after a crash this afternoon (Wednesday, November 13). Devon and Cornwall police were called to reports of a collision involving a blue Peugeot and a mobility scooter on Exeter Road, Dawlish, at around 11.55am.
Emergency services were called to the scene, and a woman in her 80s was taken to Derriford Hospital with potentially life-changing injuries. The driver of the car was not injured.
The road has been closed in both directions. Traffic site Intrix reported: "A379 Exeter Road in both directions closed due to serious accident, a car involved from The Church to The Drive. Traffic is coping well." Police are no appealing for witnesses to the incident.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall police shared: "Officers from the Roads Policing Team would like to thank the public for their patience whilst the road is closed.
"Police are appealing for any witnesses that have not already spoken to them, but who may have seen the collision, or have dashcam footage, to contact police via our website here, or by calling 101, quoting reference number 50240287671."
