Electric charge points in Battersea Street and Shard named in top picturesque UK locations for chargers

A street in Battersea has been featured as one of the top ten most picturesque charging points in the UK.

Prince of Wales Drive sits alongside a series of images of charging spots in the UK, covering everything from rural idylls to the British seaside and even the Shard.

It is part of a gallery commissioned by Go Ultra Low, the government’s campaign to promote electric vehicles.

Poppy Welch, head of Go Ultra Low, said: “Many motorists think charge points are just found in urban areas like car parks in towns and cities, however, this simply isn’t the case, so we thought the best way to demonstrate this is to show people.

“These images showcase the significant expansion in charging infrastructure highlighting the hidden gems that exist in the UK’s charging network.”

There are 6,221 charging connectors in Greater London according to ZapMap. The Mayor has also announced a major expansion of London’s electric vehicle-charging network to ensure the capital keeps up with demand.

By 2020, City Hall estimates London could require 3,400 to 4,700 slow to fast charge points, based on an estimate of 45,000 electric vehicles, increasing to 33,700- 47,500 points by 2025 estimating 330,000 electric vehicles in the capital.
