'Electric' Leeds United do the business as national media deliver Whites verdict

Leeds United continued their impressive start to the season with a comfortable 3-0 win over struggling Coventry City.

Goals from Willy Gnonto, Jayden Bogle and Joel Piroe gave Daniel Farke's side a valuable three points at Elland Road to keep up with the Championship's early pace setters. The Whites are just two points behind league leaders West Bromwich Albion and boast one of the best defensive records in the Championship.

The clean sheet against Coventry was their fifth in seven Championship games so far this season - conceding just four goals all season and they're starting to find their mojo at the top end of the pitch.

Here's what the national media had to say after Leeds United's impressive win over the Sky Blues.

'Outclassed Coventry City'

BBC Sport said: "Leeds United outclassed lowly Coventry City at Elland Road as they cruised to a fourth win in five Championship games and moved up to fifth in the table. Daniel Farke’s side, who had only won one of their three previous home league games this season, pummelled the Sky Blues from the off but only had a Willy Gnonto strike to show for their first-half dominance.

"City failed to register a single goal attempt in the first half and had it not been for a man-of-the-match display by keeper Ben Wilson would have been as good as beaten before Jayden Bogle’s neat finish made it 2-0 soon after the interval.

"Coventry never looked capable of staging a comeback - and avoiding a fifth game without a win - and Leeds sealed it with just over 10 minutes remaining when substitute Joel Piroe fired the ball home after another fine team move.

"Piroe’s third goal of the season, and third from the bench, was the least Leeds deserved and gave the scoreline a more realistic feel, much to the delight of a typically raucous home crowd."

‘Electric’ Leeds United find their flow

Nancy Froston of the Athletic wrote: "Leeds United have their mojo back. Parts of this nascent season have felt like a slog. At struggling Cardiff City a week ago, the 2-0 win was laboured. On the opening day against Portsmouth in the 3-3 draw, it was an unpredictable and frantic match-up against promoted opponents.

But against Coventry City, Leeds returned to their attacking best and revelled in total dominance over poor opposition. Mark Robins’ side have been a banana-skin fixture for many teams in recent seasons — and Leeds slipped during their end-of-season slump with a 2-1 defeat in April — but they rolled over and let United have it their way.

"Summer exits at Elland Road were always likely to stunt attacking creativity. When the losses are 20 goals and 10 assists from Crysencio Summerville and seven goals and 16 assists from Georginio Rutter, immediate replacements cost big money. Leeds chose not to spend it, alarming fans and frustrating manager Daniel Farke, and instead brought in less expensive players with potential. It is going to take time but Leeds are within touching distance of the top two and are still improving."
