'Elegant' Cheltenham restaurant lands spot in UK's Top 100 list
A popular Gloucestershire restaurant has been named one of the top places to eat in the UK by OpenTable. The online booking system launched its annual Top 100 Restaurants in the UK list for 2024, with a Cheltenham favourite making the rankings.
Lumiere, in Clarence Parade, is described as an "elegant, ingredient-led, innovative, fine dining experience in the heart of Cheltenham." Run by the husband-and-wife team of head chef Jon Howe and general manager Helen, it has been open since 2009.
Its focus is on the "best British produce sourced from a network of dedicated farmers, fishermen, producers and our own family run farm." It is the only Gloucestershire restaurant on the OpenTable list.

It has a Michelin star, has been named AA Restaurant of the Year for England, has 3AA Rosettes and is regularly listed amongst the Top 20 Restaurants in the UK by Hardens and Tripadvisor - Jon was also shortlisted for Restauranteur of the Year by The Caterer for all of his efforts during the pandemic.
“Our Top 100 Restaurant list highlights a breadth of diner favourites in the UK - from neighbourhood gems like Ciullõsteria in London to award-winning spots like Opheem in Birmingham,” says Laure Bornet, Vice President of International Growth at OpenTable. “Whether Brits are looking for a spontaneous midweek meal or festive feast, we hope diners use the list as a source of inspiration for local spots and their UK travels, this year and next.”
The list is compiled by analysing more than 900,000 diner reviews, along with diner ratings, reservation demand, percentage of five-star reviews among other factors, and features a diverse list of restaurants perfect for any occasion.
