Elizabeth Warren Speaks to Demonstrators at Supreme Court After Leak of Abortion Draft

Demonstrators gathered as Senator Elizabeth Warren spoke outside the US Supreme Court on Tuesday, May 3, following a leak of a draft opinion indicating a majority of the court is prepared to overturn the landmark Roe v Wade decision.

The draft opinion, written by Justice Samuel Alito in February, was obtained by Politico. According to the document, the court had voted to strike down the decision, which guaranteed federal abortion protections since 1973, and would bring an end to the “guarantee of federal constitutional protection of abortion rights and allow each state to decide whether to restrict or ban abortion,” Politico said.

On Tuesday, Warren said she was angry because an “extremist Supreme Court thinks they can impose their extremist views on all of the women of this country.”
