Kate Moss has given her blessing for actress Ellie Bamber to play her in the upcoming biopic Moss & Freud, the film is set to depict the relationship between Kate and artist Lucien Freud. Ellie revealed the news on instagram with the simple caption, "MOSS & FREUD."
In the series of photos Ellie shared with her followers she was pictured lying on a bed alongside the legendary supermodel. The photos are eerily reminiscent of the infamous photo Kate took cuddling Lucien Frued in bed. In the snaps, Ellie also shows photos of her visiting the National Portrait gallery to observe the artist's iconic paintings.
Ellie Bamber is one of Chanel's house ambassadors
Moss has not only agreed to a film being made about her relationship with Freud, who died in 2011 aged 88... She is also acting as the film’s executive producer to ensure it is as true to life as possible.
When did Lucien Freud paint Kate Moss?
Kate posed for Lucien nude, while she was heavily pregnant with her daughter Lila Moss, in 2002. She once declared that Lucien was the person she most wanted to meet in the world. The portrait took a rumoured nine months to complete, and Moss was said to have posed for him seven nights a week, from 7pm to 2am.
The painting was sold at auction for £3.9 million
The painting is very rare in Freud's oeuvre for being one of only a few portraits the artist had painted of a well-known or famous person. The painting was then sold to an anonymous bidder at Christie’s Post War and Contemporary art auction for £3.9 million, but the value of the painting is said to be much higher following the artist’s passing. Lucien Freud also famously inked Kate's tattoos, two swallows at the base of her back.
