Ellie Goulding is "happy and healthy" after welcoming her first child.

The 34-year-old Love Me Like You Do singer - who announced in February that she was pregnant - has given birth over the weekend.

Goulding's husband, art dealer Caspar Jopling, announced the news on his Instagram Stories by sharing a screenshot of a Google search of the world population 2021, with the last figure crossed out and an extra one added.

He wrote: "Mum and baby both healthy and happy. Extremely grateful."

Jopling added: "I don't ever address the public attention that comes with Ellie's job. But during this magical and personal moment we would really appreciate being able to enjoy our privacy... Thank you."

Goulding confirmed she was pregnant in an interview with Vogue magazine earlier this year, and admitted the baby was not planned.

Speaking about her last big public appearance at the V&A Museum last August, she said: “That was [around] the time when Caspar and I went away briefly when we were allowed to for our one-year anniversary, and that’s basically when we found out.

"It was crazy because it was our one-year anniversary. That was not the plan. The thought of getting pregnant didn’t seem like it could be a reality. Becoming pregnant kind of made me feel human.

"I want a better word than womanly, [but]—I have curves I’ve never had before. I’m enjoying it. My husband’s enjoying it.”

The Burn singer married Jopling in August 2019 at a star-studded wedding ceremony in York Minster after announcing their engagement in 2018.

They spent lockdown together at their home in Gloucestershire.

Goulding previously dated BBC Radio 1 DJ Greg James from 2010 to 2012 and McFly's Dougie Poynter from 2014 to 2016.
