Ellie Goulding has opened up about being diagnosed with exhaustion and reveals she didn’t realise how much of her health was at stake.
The 29-year-old pop princess was forced to cancel a string of in July when she was signed off by a doctor after her body reached ‘breaking point’.
The ‘burn’ hitmaker initially thought she was dying of a ‘heart attack’ when she was diagnosed with exhaustion this summer.
She told Stylist magazine: ‘I was diagnosed with exhaustion a couple of months back, but it’s only now that I realise how bad it really was.
‘When I think back to my tiredness, my slump, not wanting to exercise and not being interested in anything … It wasn’t depression, it was just my body giving up.
‘I’d have panic attacks and, to me, they felt like I was dying of a heart attack. It’s a very hot, burning feeling, like your heart is racing uncontrollably which is extra scary for me because I actually have a heart defect.’
The singer who split from McFly’s Dougie Poynter earlier this year – is encouraging other celebrities in the spotlight to discuss their mental health battles.
Ellie told the publication: ‘Too many people are quiet about mental health.
‘When you feel anxiety, it’s a very lonely feeling. It makes you feel like you’re the only person in the world feeling that way.’
We love your honesty Ellie!
