Ellis Hillon now officially holds the unwanted record for shortest stay in the Big Brother house.

The Glasgow native was removed from the show after just 19 hours on Saturday (September 15).

Channel 5 confirmed that Ellis' departure was caused by the discovery of several "offensive and unacceptable" tweets.

The record for the shortest time spent in the house was previously held by Tila Tequila – but she lasted two hours more than Ellis.

Appearing on Celebrity Big Brother back in 2016, Tila's removal followed controversial comments she made about Adolf Hitler and Nazism on her website, for which she later apologised.

The TV personality said at the time: "It was absolutely the lowest point I had ever reached in my life, and today I am truly sorry to everyone that I may have hurt along my self-destructive path. I have made many mistakes that I am definitely not proud about, but I am only a flawed human who is trying my best to be a better person than I was in the past."

Tila continued: "I am deeply sorry for my irresponsible, reckless, and selfish actions and I hope that everyone can forgive me for the pain that I may have caused. I want to be a good role model for my daughter because I don't want her to go through what I have had to endure."

In other news, current Big Brother star Lewis Gregory has moved on from his short fling with Ellis, stating: "I can find a new mate."

Big Brother airs every night except Saturdays on Channel 5 – its last series on the channel.
